Supplementary Aids and Services Consideration Toolkit On-Demand Facilitator Training

This on-demand training is specifically designed to prepare IU TaC and targeted LEA personnel to become facilitators for student-focused teams utilizing the Supplementary Aids and Services (SaS) Consideration Toolkit. Individuals participating in this training are expected to co-facilitate a SaS Consideration Toolkit with a student team under guidance from an experienced SaS Consideration Toolkit facilitator. Individuals who complete all components of this training will be eligible to download and print a certificate of completion.

Supplementary Aids and Services Consideration Toolkit On-Demand Facilitator Training

About This Course

The Supplementary Aids and Services (SaS) Consideration Toolkit is a structured method to analyze the instructional, physical, and social environment of a general education classroom from the perspective of an individual student. The intended outcome of using the Toolkit is to identify a list of environmentally-referenced supplementary aids and services to enhance participation and learning for a student with a disability in the general education classroom.
This on-demand training is specifically designed to prepare IU TaC and targeted Local Education Agency (LEA) personnel to become facilitators for student-focused teams utilizing the SaS Consideration Toolkit. Individuals participating in this training are expected to co-facilitate a SaS Consideration Toolkit with a student team with guidance from an experienced SaS Consideration Toolkit facilitator. 
Upon completion of all components of this training, participants will be eligible to download and print a certificate of completion. Act 48 hours may be available through your employer. Participants are encouraged to discuss options for Act 48 hours with their EMPLOYER BEFORE completing the Supplementary Aids and Services Consideration Toolkit On-Demand Facilitator Training. Employers may require submission of additional documentation in order to receive credit (e.g., evidence of completion of embedded course activities.)


Commitments:
- Complete all components and activities contained in the on-demand training
- Schedule, prepare and facilitate an SaS Consideration Toolkit with guidance from an experienced IU or PaTTAN SaS facilitator
- Submit the signed SaS Consideration Toolkit Planning Checklist to verify completion of the components of the training
- Complete the follow-up verification survey

Learner Outcomes:
- Describe the legal foundations for supporting students with disabilities
- Define Supplementary Aids and Services
- Discuss the purpose of the Supplementary Aids and Services Consideration Toolkit
- Practice completing each section of the SaS Consideration Toolkit
- Facilitate a student team’s use of the SaS Consideration Toolkit
- Share facilitation strategies
- Develop a plan for proactive and ongoing use of the Toolkit
